AEROPRESS

01

Heat the water to between 85 and 95ºC until it boils and let it stand for about 60 seconds.

02

Put the filter on the lid and pour hot water for 5 seconds. Rinsing the filter helps to seal it in the lid and also removes any flavor associated with the paper. Discard the rinse water before pouring the coffee grounds into the AeroPress.

03

If you're using ground coffee, skip to step 4. Otherwise, weigh the coffee beans and grind with a slightly finer grind type than is used for other drip coffee makers like Chemex, or French press.

04

Mount your AeroPress in the “upside down” position without the cap. Reversing the standard position prevents the coffee from brewing through the filter before it is ready. Pour the coffee grounds into the AeroPress chamber and gently shake it back and forth to settle the grounds.

05

Start the timer and pour half the water (120 grams) evenly over the grounds. Let it sit until the timer reads 45 seconds. This step is called flowering. The hot water forces trapped gases to be released, causing the base of the coffee to expand, bubbling on the surface and releasing the wonderful aromas that make your coffee enjoyable.

06

Fill the Aeropress to the top or until your scale reads 240 gr.

07

Gently stir the ground coffee mixture with hot water for 5 seconds and place the stopper (with filter) firmly on top of the compartment.

08

Once the timer reads 1:30, carefully flip the AeroPress over and place it on top of your mug. Before brewing coffee for the first time, practice this move with just water inside the compartment to master this move. It's best to find a smooth, fast motion that you're comfortable doing.

09

Push the plunger slowly but steadily for about 20 seconds until you hear a hissing sound (this is air coming out of the compartment). Remove the lid and discard the grounds and filter.
